CFA Life Membership for valued peer

Rob Auchterlonie was presented with a CFA Life Membership at the South Gippsland Group Annual Dinner.

 

Dumbalk Fire Brigade’s Rob Auchterlonie was awarded a CFA Life Membership at the recent South Gippsland Group of brigades’ annual dinner in Meeniyan on Saturday 20 July.

 

During the 40-plus years of service to CFA, Rob has held many positions, first with his former brigades Driffield and Yinnar, and now at Dumbalk brigade where he is currently 2^nd lieutenant. However, most people in District 9 know Rob as a valued peer and peer coordinator.

The CFA peer program links members to volunteers and their families who may need mental health and wellbeing support. Peers will often be dispatched to support brigades after traumatic events as an initial pillar of support to volunteers.

During his brief speech of thanks, Rob commented that his role as peer coordinator and peer was some of his most rewarding work.

During Rob’s time at Dumbalk brigade, he has also served as the brigade health and safety officer, training officer, Volunteer Fire Brigade Victoria delegate, and deputy group officer with the former Mirboo Group.

In front of friends, family and colleagues, brigade leaders congratulated their members for many years of service to CFA.
