CFA health programs for Juniors
The CFA Fit Kidz Program has been redesigned following feedback from Junior members and Junior leaders.
The Fit Kidz program now offers a Fit TEENS Program for secondary school members while Fit Kidz remains available for primary school aged members. Both programs encourage healthy behaviours among our Junior members and prepares them to become healthy senior brigade members.
The programs offer a range of facilitated activities for Junior, including age-appropriate health checks, fun fitness and functional movement tests, physical education games, health education activities, and more.
Along with the regular Fit Kidz offerings, Fit TEENS provides a suite of health education session options suited to high school aged children. The session topics include Fueling (healthy eating), Hydrating, and Exercise. All content is designed to be relevant to firefighting activities and the CFA-VFBV State Championships.
Junior leaders are invited to contact the Health Services team to design a session based on their Junior members' needs and age level. The team will send a group of allied health professionals employed by CFA to your location to facilitate the session for you.
There are also a range of online tools and resources for Junior leaders to download and use to promote health among their brigades.
