CFA farewells Nigel McCormick
Nigel McCormick is leaving CFA after nine years as our Chief Financial Officer.
Nigel initially joined CFA as Executive Manager Finance and Chief Financial Officer, acting as Executive Director of the various directorates Finance has been a part of, before becoming the substantive Executive Director Finance. Nigel has supported CEOs, Chief Officers and the CFA Board over many years and through challenging times.
Among his many achievements Nigel;
- Worked closely with Government and navigated CFA through the complexities involved in the introduction of the Fire Services Property Levy Act 2012
- Created the Brigade Finance function, recognising the importance of CFA having suitable arrangements in place to support the financial management of Brigades and supporting the Board to fulfil its obligations
- Implemented the financial changes (including required process changes) to support the implementation of Fire Services Reform
- Oversaw the financial arrangements between CFA and government to support the successful implementation of many key CFA programs and projects - significant examples include the Growth Programs, and the Environmental Compliance Program and
- Oversaw the preparation of CFA’s Annual Financial Statements through a number of complex years.
Nigel has decided that now is the right time for him to look for new opportunities after nearly a decade with CFA and we wish him well in his future endeavours and thank him for his significant contribution and support over many years.
Mohini Sashindranath has been appointed acting Chief Financial Officer while the recruitment process for the substantive position is underway and will be supported by Corey Hale who has joined CFA as acting deputy Chief Financial Officer.
I know you will join me in thanking Nigel for his many years of leadership.
