Awards night at Dunolly

Dunolly Fire Brigade held its annual CFA awards night at Dunolly Bowling Club last month.

 

This year the following received CFA service award medals: 

  • Barry Cann (50 years)
  • Frederick Watts (40 years) 
  • Darren Freemantle (35 years)
  • Paul Martin (35 years)
  • Graeme Day (15 years)
  • George Stolnik (15 years)
  • Debra Haynes (10 years)

Barry Cann received the CFA Life Membership Award which represents his years of service to CFA. The special award is a high level of recognition of the nominee's commitment to CFA or brigade over many years. 

Barry started as a junior member and has committed more than 52 years to Dunolly Fire Brigade, holding many positions during his tenure including foreman, firefighter, 2nd lieutenant, captain, secretary, treasurer, communications officer, FEM secretary and VFBV delegate.

Barry has given diligent service to the brigade and wider CFA in these years and was a part of many strike teams.

He became a firefighter In 1974 and since then, has been a strong contributor to the brigade, not only on the fireground but also around the station.

Barry has also been involved in a number of community events and is well respected in the community and for his treless community engagement and fundraising which has made him an asset to the brigade.
